That list is quite impressive! I have a question about it though...your list says salsa is 萨尔达舞 but the recent cpod advanced lesson calls its 莎莎.

So which one is it or can you call it either??

just wondering since it is one of my hobbies...

thanks

Hi Bazza,

it's funny, I've already had the same odd feeling before, probably when I have been looking for the right genre in the default list present in iTunes, and all the times, or many times, I decided to create a new genre, because no one of them was exactly the right one to describe what I was adding in that moment. You begin in that manner, and then....

It must be something wrong... BTW when I made a new genre, the next time, nearly all the times, it's the same embarrassing situation... So, as you can see, I had a similar experience to yours.

At any rate, it seems to me quite strange such an accurate distinction for many, detailed kind of music, and a couple of huge, monolithic blocks for Opera and Classic, as if in six or seven, or even more centuries of music, composers, singers, players of any sort, belonging to different part of the western world, they all would have been the same identical thing, and now in a very few years, it would have flourished the paradise of creativity, and multiplicity.

Believe me, I don't mean to criticize at all your really praiseworthy job, (I'm not kidding you!) after all you only pushed a little bit forward the logic of iTunes and similar. And I have to agree, that if you want to keep an acceptable order in your computer, and you like to listen to some different type of music, you have to make something like this. Nevertheless, I still feel this strong embarrassment when I see this kind of lists, that makes me feel not at ease, don't you?

But now, let me, as a sign of my envolvment in your enterprise, try to help you at least in one case:  for Italydance why not simply 意大利舞厅? but then, could you please give me an example of that?

ciao Bazza, and again, please don't take my post as a criticism,

with my best wishes,

Michele.

and I've forgotten, at least, to mention all that sort of music coming from Africa, Asia, America, Oceania and more and more... well, for some of them "we" have thought to call all of them... World music...

the simple fact that in my long previous post I've forgotten, even to consider their mere existence makes me feel quite worried...

Bazza, I'm amazed by how much free time you must have.  Well, at least at this rate you'll be fluent in no time. :o)
