In Japan, 柔术 (柔術, ju-jutwu) is the name of a traditional Japanese martial art. 柔道 (judo) is originated in 柔术. So I was VERY surprised when I saw the photo after clicking on the thread title!
That's interesting, because I was getting 柔术 translated as jujitsu in some places and contortion in others.
柔术 literally means "soft technique," which is interesting since jujitsu employs striking and grappling. But at the same time, I can see it as a "softer" technique because it did not require the use of weapons.
In Wikipedia the word 柔术 links to the jujitsu page but there's also a page for contortion :
. 柔术 (杂技) 柔身术 (contortion)
. 柔术 (jujitsu)
