Android App

April 28, 2010 at 08:44 AM posted in General DiscussionI’ve installed the android application to carry my lessons wherever I go but I’ve found some limitations.
When I’m offline and I open the Android app I can see the lessons on the first page, listen to them, see the vocabulary, extended vocabulary etc. but since “My Lessons” can only display 10 lessons (and I have more than 10 on my dashboard) if I click on the “Next” button the application will send an error saying that it cannot retrieve the lesson data (even when I’ve downloaded all these lessons previously) and I am not able to even see anything but the first 10 lessons on the list.
Is it possible to improve this part of the application? I don’t see a point on trying to connect when the lessons have been downloaded previously

Hi hamzatprk, our Android app is design to be use in conjunction with our website. The lessons list on your Android app corresponds to your dashboard/manage lessons lessons list. Please visit http://chinesepod.com/dashboard/feedsettings to setup your subscribed lessons. Newly published lessons from the subscribed lesson level will be automatically added to your dashboard. Please also visit our lesson archive at http://chinesepod.com/lessons/all and bookmark lessons of interest to you. Newly bookmarked lessons will be added to your dashboard as well.

You poor guys. I have an untrendy N97 made by some European maker called nukio or makia or something. Being in the minority with this kit I have nothing to fix in the first place!

I couldn't work out how to search for lessons and add them from m.chinesepod.com. I only see the lessons that have been added automatically by subscription, or that I have added to my feed. But I can't find ways to add other lessons or search for them without coming to the main site.

Not from Android, but you can do it through m.chinesepod.com which is a similar interfase as the Android app
I really hope that in the future this app gets improved, I can see a lot of opportunity areas

Sorry, uneditable post. Can anyone manage lessons without coming to the main site?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for checking, after a few hours of trying to figure out what was going on I just restarted my hero and it worked...
It seems that the best solution for any problem on windows also worked on android...
Cheers!

@sebire it works the same for me, also on Android 2.1 (Nexus One.)
My only problem is that the lessons list won't "clean-up" when I clean up my online dashboard.

Hey guys, I've managed page through three pages, that presumably I have looked at before prior to disconnecting. I can also access lessons I've previously downloaded too whilst not being connected. I'm using Android 2.1 - what about you guys?
What I think would be useful is the ability to search for lessons that are not on my RSS, because I tend not to add them.

I have a related problem.. the Android app shows me lessons I'm not interested in seeing. (Channels I was subscribed to, but unsubscribed already.) My dashboard on the website correctly shows only the bookmarked lessons, Android shows many which are not bookmarked, nor downloaded, nor from subscribed channels.
