Hi--was wondering when/if anyone from CPod was going to comment on the in reply to's in subthreads no longer being links to the particular comment the Reply is to. So far I haven't found it particularly inconvenient, but would like to hear what the decision was there, why the change.

I agree. I thought I may have missed the story there but apparently it's gone under the radar. I thought it was the most useful of the features added to the dashboard and would have found it useful in the last few days when I was trying to sort corrections in the transcripts group and on other occasions. I guess it's just being fixed, right?

Zhenlijiang and bababardwan,

Are you talking about the "in reply to" in lesson comments' page? When you click on a user name, it takes you to this user's profile page whereas the particular comment he/she has replied to can be seen above the reply.

Jenny,

Let's for example take your first comment in the Sex Education thread:

http://chinesepod.com/lessons/sex-education-class

[ps I've just noticed I can no longer directly link to that comment by clicking on the dialogue symbol after "jennyzhu says" and getting a url for it ]

...you will note under your first comment that a subthread started and orangina commented twice. Zhenlijiang replied to orangina but it would only be context that would tell us to which of oranginas comment her reply was to. In other subthreads they can be longer and it can be much harder to tell.

...whereas previously you could click on the words "in reply to" and that would immediately transfer you back to the comment it was a reply to

Hi bababardwan, I've checked with our tech team regarding the "in reply to" function. This was a temporary function we added to our community for testing purpose. This function was removed over 4 months ago due to coding conflicts.

Peter but we had this function working up until quite recently--not certain what date exactly. This month it was working. I don't know, until like maybe 10 days, two weeks ago?

You wouldn't know this, but I usually don't take four months to point out a problem or raise a question, haha.

Anyhow I saw no such notice from anyone at CPod. Such a change surely ought to be announced. It's disconcerting (=creepy), user-experience-wise, not to be notified.

* Umm it's been said before, but someone among you needs to have a user's view, be experiencing the same site we are.
