This is pretty cool.

Is there any site for chinese news in an audio form. Maybe RSS or podcast? CCTV?

Following is a really good website for better Mandarin pronunciation:

www.speakchineseonline.com

I've been looking for a site like this for a while.  What's so great about it is that it describes each pinyin initial and final, using animation with sound, step-by-step description (with visual of what the lips, mouth, tongue, etc. do), and video/audio of an actual native speaker.

It's similar to CPod's Pinyin Chart, but with video and better description of what the mouth does.  There's other good info. on this site as well.

Hello,

I'm a newbie with Mandarin, thanks to all for running Chinesepod. I started with several other sources and I've found them here together.

I'm not sure I'm posting this question at the right place.

I would like to hear continuous spoken Mandarin every day, like kids before they actually start to speak. I do not need to understand what is being said. Good audio books with contemporary spoken Chinese would be great, maybe from the Gutenberg project.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm currently on a basic subscription, and so I can't download for example the "dialogue review" mp3 from the podcast pages on the site. One peculiar thing though, is that despite the options to receive the "lesson review" and "dialogue review" are grayed out in my RSS preferences, I am still receiving them through my feeds.

The dialogue reviews are much more convenient than importing the lesson into a sound editor and extracting them that way (for the record I think basic subscribers should have access to them, since it's not new material like the review tools, just a more convenient way to get what is already available to us in the lesson podcasts), but I think the topic should be brought up nevertheless: is this a glitch or intentional?

Thanks!

Chris

Hi,

I like the Google translation tool. However still an audio tool is not included so that I cannot hear the Chinese in order to exercise and master the correct pronounciation. Is there a software or website available where I can ideally translate whole sentences and will get also the PINYIN including audio support???

With Google the sentence "i like chinese food" gives the right translation "wǒ xǐ huan zhōng guó shí pǐn". It would also help if I could now copy the PINYIN into a software or Online Tool to hear the pronounciation. Is something like this availble???
