I am sure that you already stumbled upon the BBC China website long ago. Nevertheless, I find it's an indispensable. Apart from news in Chinese (good practice for Intermediate/Advanced-students), they also provide material for learners of English (and a very small "Learn Chinese" section that's even insufficient for tourists). But these podcasts (they come with a transscript), vocabulary tests and interesting as well as varied articles about the UK can be used in the reverse way. If you already have an Intermediate knowledge of Chinese, you can greatly profit from them, learn Chengyu, news vocab and informal expressions in Mandarin (plus some British slang). The presenters speak quick but clear putonghua. The interaction between them can be a bit awkward, but that does not affect the quality.

I hope you can draw profit from sections like 英语教学 and 英国生活.

Has anyone else found an practical way of update podcasts on your iphone without having to physically plug it in your pc?

There is an app called 'Podcaster' that you can get, but Apple have banned it from the app store because duplicates part of itunes functionality. So you can only install it if your phone is 'jailbroken'.
