Great question kennifaye - why 心理病 refers to mental illness, and not 脑理病. To clarify, there is no such phrase as 脑理病, but I always love it when our users make up words to help understand Chinese better! 心理病 is associated with 心理科, psychology, which has a Greek root - the spirit and soul. In Chinese, spirit and soul are expressed as 心灵。心灵 is an ancient phrase, dating back to texts found in Buddhist writings and during the Tang dynasty. And to put it very simply, 心灵 is the state that differentiates human from animals, a state that includes our conscience, thoughts, and feelings. So 心 here doesn't refer to the heart alone, but the spirit and soul of the human kind. I hope this helps!

Hi Gracechen, they are both cheungyu, and can be used interchangeably. Thanks for pointing it out!

Hi Tranthuclinh,

You are right, 50-50 is the standard.  On this lesson, is there any particular part you want us to discuss in Chinese?  I can try to do some transcribes here.

Hi all: thanks for your comments. @989409063, you are right, we should have introduced ourselves in Chinese! This is a very tricky lesson for us while we wanted to teach it as a normal lesson, we were emotionally drawn. But you are right, we should always keep the 50-50 rule. @ translateJake, what voiceover are you referring to? @ question200812, we would love to produce more for you, hoping for the best recovery from Covid-19! We did do another lesson on Covid-19, it's called "Love amid Covid-19". If you couldn't find it, let me know. I hope it's useful for you!

Hi Veronique,

Thanks for asking! Quarantine is 隔离 gélí. It can be used as a verb or a modifying verb. Such as “我需要隔离”I need to be quarantined or”我是隔离病人” I am a patient under quarantine.

Containment is 遏制 èzhì which is a verb that means to contain/control/restrain. To check one’s emotions or outburst for example. It’s used a lot presently - to contain the epidemic ”遏制疫情”。Together with policy 政策 , it makes 遏制政策。

Hi Yingyue: I have a question about your comment on 津津有味,津 means saliva, 津津 describe someone is very interested in something. its antonym is "兴致勃勃”/ its synonym is "索然无味””/ its synonym is "索然无味”.

Shouldn't it be: 津津有味's antonym is "索然无味”?

Hello, sorry about the delayed reply!  But here is the answer: the piece originated from a Cantonese opera created in 1959 called "Zǐ chāi jì", which literally means "the Tale of the Purple Hairpin".  And the theme song used in our lesson is selected from the last act.  Here are some references for you:
