Compare with english:
你知道他是谁吗?=Do you know who he is? (indirect question)

你知道他是谁吗? in this sentense you cann't omit 吗.
吗 in here，they use it for a question. "Do you know ?".
谁 in here， it's not a question word,but a pronounce.

的 is a possessive pronoun.
ex:这本书是我的。= This book is mine.
的 is a relative pronoun.
ex：这本书是我买的。 or 这本是我买的书。
=This book is one that I bougth。 or This is the book that I bougth。
的 can be a pronoun.
So "这个服务是免费的" may be translated like " This service is one that is free.
or "这个是免费的服务"= This is a free service

i think chinese they use 十 to express 2 meanings. Not only number 10 ,but also the meaning of the word "Perfectly" or "to get the highest points."
As the word 十分 ，十足，十成. All mean like "Perfectly" ,"100%","reach the highest score"
so "二八" is "十成", westerners use "percent"to express "perfectly", chinese use "per ten" instead.

August 22, 2008 at 6:06 PMI think "这个的开幕式很好" it can be translated like " this Olympic's opening ceremony is very good" .
Full sentence is "这个奥运的开幕式很好"
"这个" in this sentence means "this Olympic"
的 is used to indicate opening ceremony belongs to this olympic.
"找到一个的好朋友" in the same reason
Full sentence is"找到一个人的好朋友"
"一个的好朋友" = one's good friend.
I'm not sure it is correct ? Pls give me comment. THX

有点毛病，应该是 “wo zhu zai taiguo de qingmai”

May 7, 2008 at 6:50 PMmikeinewshot ， I think “我也是。”, It's full sentence is ":我也是一直用QQ的。“ . So it's a 是.......的 sentence .sortly reply frome your 1st sentence that may be said " 我是一直用QQ的" instead. But I'm not sure that It's a perfect correct answer for you. LOL

That sentence will change to imperative sentences in english.
