May 26, 2008 at 2:47 AMIt'd be nice to hear some western 口音, such as 四川话 or 湖北话. Another random point of interest, sparked by Chanye's mention of the 'ng' sound - I have always wondered how that is pronounced when not preceded by an 'i'? For example, how the Tibetans and Cantonese pronounce 我.

March 26, 2008 at 4:03 AMI miss shao2 kao3 (not completely sure about the tones here) the most of all the street food in sichuan. Maybe a lesson combining this amazing chinese bbq with a word or two about wei2 jing1 (msg) thrown in for good measure.

March 19, 2008 at 3:44 AMbabybaby - the difference between 哪里 and 哪儿 is really just regional. You'll find the 'er' sound to be more common in the north - in and around beijing, whereas that sound is rarely found in southern/western dialects, hence the use of 'li' instead.

May 28, 2008 at 1:58 AMFunny - with the new layout, my computer now can't recognize the 汉å—, unless i write it (like I just did) - in which case it shows up just fine. Anyone else having this problem?
edit: it'd appear that upon posting this message, the character which previously showed up just fine in the text box now has been conviently translated into jiberish. Wonderful :0)
