February 4, 2010 at 3:37 PMmost of my english came from TV, movies and listening to music. You just have to let the language flow naturally, and then your brain eventually will fill the blanks. If you are too aware of everything your mind becomes rigid and the learning process gets harder. Personally i found the lesson just fine, specially because a few days ago I just rented my apartment and i had to learn it by experience.
always fun to hear you guys!

February 9, 2010 at 4:18 PMIt is hard for us to understand the traditional chinese medicine concepts and even harder to explain them from the western medicine point of view. But i will try to explain it in a simple way. A lot of symptoms can be related to fire as in its nature like: heat, burning sensation, inflammation, red color, ulcers, bleeding, fever or even acne or dermatologic problems. So ancient chinese doctors put them in the group of fire and treat them with products that have a cooling nature. If some herb treat an ulcer then it can cool the fire. In a western point of view we can say that a gastric ulcer its caused by the stomach fire (gastic acid) and the treatment for it like tums or some other more complex drugs like omeprazol can cool this fire. Western doctors often recomend not to drink alcohol, spicy food, greasy foods, coffee etc.
hope this help
