I checked that 消滅 can also be used for extinguish ( like when the police does for riots). 在歷史課也常常讀到" 國家滅亡"

March 10, 2010, 08:46 AMI enjoyed this lesson. especially enjoyed the phrase "重新開始". Re 滅，is this verb only used for extinguish fire？when a fire extinguisher is used to get rid ( annihilate)people, can you say 滅人?
