November 14, 2007 at 12:20 AMtotally off-topic but I just realised that John reminds me exactly of Jim Halpert on The Office US comedy show. Same voice, humour etc. Wow.

September 15, 2007 at 5:43 AMguys, rather than stories like this, I think we need more topical lessons. How about one covering aspects of computer hardware. eg. you go to the computer repair shop and ask for about new motherboard, ram and processor etc.

June 28, 2007 at 12:26 AMdefinitley, a CPod on prostitution would be appropriate. I have lost count of the number of times I am beckoned into "hair salons" for something other than a blow-dry ! Also funny to see the "white-liberal-male-guilt" brigade rear their PC heads over this topic. Unbelievable, it's only a language lesson, and a damn good one at that !

June 26, 2007 at 1:04 AMBill, basic foundations of male/female behaviour never become "outmoded" or "sexist". It is merely our very recent, overly distorted concept of" Political Correctness" that is attempting to rewire natural behaviour/classifications. It doesnt and will never work.

June 20, 2007 at 4:10 AMguys, I am finding the dialogues too hard to follow. When you first started upper intermediate lessons, they were easier. Can we wind the difficulty level back a notch ? Seems like a fairly big listening comprehension chasm opening up between "intermediate" and "upper intermediate" level.

June 18, 2007 at 12:38 AMif you want perfect foreigner chinese, then listen to "Da niu" from Happy China. But John is much more likeable and down to earth than that guy. Full marks to John for his low-key earthiness.

June 17, 2007 at 12:16 AMyes, I really think 90% of the time people say "your chinese is so good", they are just feeding you BS to make you feel good.

February 20, 2008 at 3:08 AMI think that with a grin like that, it is quote obvious where his hands are. Now, please can I request that all Asian females immediately cease immediately making that stupid, cutesy V symbol when having photos taken. I can only gag so much.
