tǔ

◆ 吐
tù

Jenny，
I often hear ”已经到期了！“ which would put it clearly in the "expired" category as well (assuming it's grammaticallycorrect). To Chinese, would it sound more like "it's no longer valid"?

Once the 89 year old lady starts her sprint to the door, what would be an acceptable thing to say so she could take her time?

matt_c, I am not a lawyer but can say that due to the new labour contract law and the current economic state of things it's much harder to dismiss employees while at the same time it's much easier for employees to sue and win. The company would have to show that they followed the rules and there was a clear breach of the company's manual and written regulations. If the company can't prove it they'll probaby lose, I guess. (this is mostly for foreign companies, local companies might have other 'ways').
