It looks like the English translation has been left out of the transcript on purpose!

tvan, let's not force anything on anybody. Let's be inclusive where it makes sense and it makes sense to put the English translation in the documentation. If you don't like seeing the English in the transcript then ChinesePod should create another channel for it.

The only context I could obtain from the documentation was from the vocabulary list. I would agree with nice84 that the vocabulary list is inadequate.

This vocabulary list would be a great place for a semantically-ordered analysis of the lexemes one which includes derivations, antonyms, homonyms, synonyms... A story ontology is exactly what we need, not an alphabetical list.

There is so much which can be done with this material that I actually think this feed would be better on CCTV with a video channel for the context.

ChinesePod is force-feeding me Chinese like a child.

I must agree with Mike. Why is the transcript and translation not part of the documentation?

Why not make the lesson accessible to everybody? Is this material graded? I mean, is the English a secret?  There is plenty of space. Then I cold read the English and learn the context. I might find expressions and patterns I am interested in. Otherwise the lesson is no better than a CCTV broadcast.

Dear Amber,

My American friend likes a girl in Taizhou. She will not sleep with him because she says she has a boyfriend. My friend does not believe her because he says all the Chinese girls who do not want to sleep with him say they have boyfriends. My question is this: will my friend's friend let Mr. Right walk right out the door  and marry her imaginary boyfriend because he is young and Chinese? Or is her boyfriend real?

If I ever have a son I think I will name him 'langlaile.' I will call him, "Langlaile, langlaile lai zheli chifan."

PS

Who is the President of the Jenny Zhu fan club? I would like an autographed wall paper for my computer desktop.
