April 28, 2008 at 11:10 PMi like it that there is a variety of difficulty levels in each lesson category. this lesson is great for someone transitioning from mostly elementary lessons to more intermediate ones (like me ^_^ ) I have a question, too. "hao xue" 好学 means "easy to study" How does one say "good to study". for example "It would be good to study Chinese before you go to China." Or "good to (whatever)" good to eat good to wear good to hear thanks ivy

"crochet" 怎么说? is crocheting also popular in china? in addition, i'd like to vote for an intermediate harry potter lesson. thanks!

January 9, 2008 at 10:57 PMI'm an American from the Ohio/Pennsylvania border and we put the stress on "dress" instead of "a" in address. It comes out as "you're a dress." i wonder what other areas of the US this is true for?

November 15, 2007 at 8:41 PMI feel so bad for poor Li Yan but check 每天 to see what will happen next. I recently learned this phrase: 想要马好又想马不吃草 you want a good horse that doesn't eat grass. I think it's the same sentiment as "you can't have your cake and eat it too."

September 16, 2007 at 11:38 AMhi john and maxiewawa i have the 才problem as well. also, i get a stroke crossing the first stroke of 忍 - in stead of a dian like on the flashcards. i use firefox too and went to the advanced font and tried to select simplified chinese but it didn't seem to make a difference. can you tell me what your browser is set to or what you changed it to to fix the problem? thanks! ivy p.s. at the risk of redundancy - this lesson is awesome.

April 29, 2008 at 2:45 AMThanks Clay, I realize those patters don't always correlate, but sometimes they could. There's a pattern in this lesson for expressing "not even a little bit (whatever)" (一点。。。都）. I find the hardest ideas for me to express in Chinese are ones that (in English at least) have a contextual meaning: your comment about "good to eat" or does "good to wear" mean warm or fashionable, for example. cheers ivy
