Posted on: Counterfeit Money and Driving in China
November 9, 2008 at 9:41 AMTracy was a great guest (another cute Canadian?) and gave a highly accurate account of driving here, especially the part about getting road rage, "um, yeah, you know, occasionally... like every time I drive." :-)

August 4, 2008 at 8:22 AMI think the only thing available in my development is ADSL from China Telecom and it doesn't seem very fast. Is there real cable (fiber optic) internet access available to the home anywhere in China?

August 3, 2008 at 7:32 AMI miss the old days when you could use Comrade (同志)to address everyone. Apparently now it's only used ironically among homosexuals.

July 27, 2008 at 6:11 AMThanks for sharing the "Extremely Harmonious" video. It should be re-named "Extremely Unlikely" because not one of those situations has ever happened in China. :-) Indeed, if you help out a stranger here, not only will they be unappreciative; they'll think something is wrong with you or you're an idiot (傻).
As for those obligatory smiles: 两边的肌肉非常疼!

July 18, 2008 at 2:43 AMGreat cultural point about the (rare) use of "thanks" in China ... even though I'm not a newbie, I learn something from the lessons at every level.

July 18, 2008 at 2:18 AMI dig funk. That interview with Jenny is excellent (news of Canadian boyfriend notwithstanding). Thanks for the link.
