I think there is kinda rules in the third tone known as "third tone sandhi":
Eg1. "wǒ hěn hǎo." When we have more than two 3rd tones succesively, we usually change previous ones into 2nd tone and remain the last 3rd tone. That's why you often hear "wó hén hǎo." where we change the 3rd tones "wǒ"and "hěn" into 2nd and keep the last 3rd tone "hǎo" remains.
Eg2. "Wǒ yě hěn hǎo."-->"Wó yé hén hǎo."
Eg3. "Ěrduo yǒudiǎn bèi."-->"Ěrduo yóudiǎn bèi."
Eg4. "Wǒ yǒu hěnhǎo de shēncái."-->"Wó yóu hénhǎo de shēncái."
You may come up with more examples and try.
BTW, it feels easy and comfortable to make such a tone change in these successive 3rd tone utterances.

I think you might have massed up pinyin "zuo" and "zou" since their tones don't sound that different to recognize in our daily conversations. So the problem might be on the vowels "uo" and "ou".
