I can't download the PDF file - it just downloads as html gobbledegook.  I tried "save-as" and changing the extension to .pdf, still no good.

Can anyone help please?

Cheers

Ok, I have to ask this because this is driving me crazy..... Amber, when you say goodbye at the end of Dear Amber, you add something in the middle of your Zai Jian. Please please tell me what it is!!! You are the only person I know who says this. Love the show by the way Cheers Pete

Hi Guys, you're showing a pdf logo on this Qing Wen episode which I immediately thought "great - at last" but the link doesn't work. Is it just a CP "glitch" or is my PC the problem? Qing Wen is probably my favourite podcast, because I just love the way Clay keeps those two unruly girls Amber and Connie in their place (haha)

user28140, my experience is that pinyin is very well known amongst chinese people. I cannot understand chinese characters yet (except 你好) but can write a growing vocabulary of pinyin which is easily recognised by my business contacts in China.

I am also amazed at the arrogance of some people on here. Come on you guys, I thought learning Chinese was meant to be fun. I also want to say a huge thanks to Ken and Jenny for all their hard work. And please don't keep slagging Ken off for his accent, it's still a thousand times better than mine. So let's have less personal attacks and more constructive comment please. Love the "Dear Amber" and "Qing Wen" too. Clay, Amber and Connie are superstars.

Thanks for that Casie, I agree that without the tones it can be confusing, but I can't think of a simple way of adding the tones when writing pinyin. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Auntie Sue, thanks for the explanation. I guess you are right, my friends are probably not used to writing pinyin. As for my name......it may be what you are thinking.......or it could simply be a character from Lord of the Rings.......I'll let you decide ;-)

Hi all, Thanks to Jenny and Ken for another superb lesson. I'm a newbie who is slowly making a few tentative steps in to Elle level with your help. I use QQ and msn to chat with my friends in China and agree that the English QQ does not show characters, which is a little annoying (I can't read them but could cut & paste them into Google Language tools if they would display). Anyway, my question is this: I just used "baochi lianxi" as shown on the lesson pdf but my friend didnt recognise it at first and then corrected it to "bao chi lian xi". Are the spaces important when writing Pinyin? Cheers guys and keep up the good work Pete
