August 05, 2010, 04:16 PMHi guys,
I just have a quick question regarding a small piece oflanguage in this lesson.
我第一次参加这么正式的主日礼拜
主日 : can this word alone be translated as 'sunday service' ?
Is 主日礼拜 commonly said to mean sunday service? such as wo3 qu4 主日礼拜 (sorry I can't type in Chinese on this computer)
Any insight would be much appreciated as I am struggling to grasp the full meaning of this word.
Thanks very much, The Main Man

September 23, 2009, 09:41 AMso....is it just me, or is it that in Beifang people are just more aggressive and rough?
I recall seeing a verbal argument in the streets with people gathering at least once every other day, but more likely once or twice a day...I've unfortunately never seen people throw blows which would be way more entertaining, but you could be guaranteed when a group of people started running in a direction that a verbal fight would start and they would be shouting B's back and forth like nobody's business...
awwww those were the good times...
but in all seriousness, I am not exaggerating at all, the north is totally like this...
is this less common in the south?

September 23, 2009, 01:31 AMI just saw this entry for the first time today...dont know how I missed it as I love a good online fight and lots of controversy.
seriously, are there any other decent sites out there that compare to cpod? if there are please send me a pm :)
I was showing cpod to my buddy and going on and on how easy it is to use, and he wants to learn japanese so we were looking at japanesepod101.com (of which I am a member) but to be honest it is crap and a hassle to use...the dialogues are good but cpod is just soooo much easier to use...I guess you could say cpod is just a pleasure to use.

September 22, 2009, 07:08 AMawesome....dldshanghai, tank you very much for the great explanation.
I distinctly recall a Chinese lady say: 男人很贱。
so this is like saying, all men are evil?
If she wanted to say men are bad, she could say 男人都不好。
对吧?
再次感谢你的帮助。

September 22, 2009, 12:51 AMHi,
杀一局, is this expression used only in billiards, or is it applicable in other sports?
Cheers

September 22, 2009, 12:47 AMFun lesson!
Regarding the sentence below pulled directly from the dialogue:
哎,你这人怎么这么说话的?
(Ugh, how can you talk that way?)
Could we also say: 你这人怎么这样说话的?
In other words, are 这么 and 这样 more or less interchangeable? This is something I have been wondering...
also, would the word 疯婊 feng1biao3(I believe it means crazy whore but I could be wrong)be similar to Matt‘s description of 贱货?
thank you in advance for any help!
