Cool site. I do want a similar site to learn other languages.
I am also native Chinese.
It seems to me "zao shang hao", "xia wu hao", "wan shang hao", "ni hao" and all these greetings are initially translated from English. Especially "ni hao ma?" is directly from "How are you?". As we know, China has a long history, and before the 20th century the Chinese did not greet each other with “早上好” and such words. So those greetings were coming from western countries(but all are common now). I suppose even 谢谢(thanks), 再见, 明天见 are also from other countries. And 爸爸(baba) is from papa in English.
