Buddhism declined in India because it rejected the caste system, and that was just too dangerous for the powers in charge!

Great series overall - I really look forward to each "new" poem.   I read the first poem (or section) in my second grade reader of the Zhongwen series.  It was explained to me as a way of instilling appreciation for the farmer's toil ingrained in each and every piece of rice.  I suppose the political commentary of the second section was not considered appropriate for the younger crowd.
