Does the "relaxed education system" refer to a reduction in required curriculum?

If so, are the standardize tests for high school and university easier than they were before?

If not, the "relaxed education system" is not actually relaxed; it shifts the burden of education from the government to the individual -- that is, families must invest time and money in educating their children outside of public schools.

In many cases, this type of education actually perpetuates economic bifurcation. The wealthy have enough money to send their kids to cram schools and hire tutors. The poor don't. The wealthy pass the test and go to good colleges. The poor don't. The wealthy get the good jobs. The poor don't. The wealthy stay wealthy and the poor stay poor.

The system in Taiwan is very similar.

Any ideas over the difference between 推薦 and 引薦?

(From the lesson: "被推荐了去参加会试。")

One could come across a freak encounter in which there is supposed to be a wastebasket, but local hooligans decided to play a dirty trick and steal it. In such a case, your more specific rules would come in handy.

Rule 5 is elegant -- with it posited , all other rules become redundant.
