I agree bring back the English translation. Even though I can guess at most of the meaning based on context, I would still like to know the exact English word. I often find myself not remembering the English word for a Chinese word. Moreover some of the expressions can't be found in various dictionaries. Since the English translation is a popup by demand, it doesn't interfere with those who don't need the translation. However it makes more work for those who need the translation. Looking up words in a Chinese dictionary is already a chore, and one of the things I like about Chinese pod is the ease of use.

In other words, your story got a little too personal! Passion, I still learn very basic things from CPod like, 你过奖了。All you need is a strong motivation, and the right atmosphere, so yes, learning in China/Taiwan helps a lot.

Really? A province with it's own military, government and entirely different rules? With absolutely no political relationship or subordination to the Chinese communist party? At present Taiwan acts as an independent 'country' although few governments of the world actually want to face that fact for fear of damaging relations with China. However, it is clearly not a special zone like Hong Kong or Macao. So i guess war and assimilation are probably inevitable for Taiwan; I love the smell of napalm in the morning (and erased posts?).

Taiwan is a part of China. It always has been, and it always will be. Sooner than than later, it will reunite with the Motherland. I think there will be a peaceful reunification. The Chen ShuiBian and his separatist party won't win out. There's too much economical politicals involved. But, Dave you probably didn't you know that Kinmen Island and Matsu Island currently held by Taiwan, are only miles from the Mainland in Fujian Province.

(I don't get that last one's structure, could it be wèi, or bù kě yǐ...??) BTW, you could just say Cpod mí - 中文播客迷

Franch, thx for the explanations. This lesson is out of my league, obviously, but it appears "addicted" is translated several ways depending on the context. "To adore" or "be fascinated" or "fei1chang2xi3huan1" have positive connoations. I am wondering is there a way to say, "he's addicted to such and such," but regarding a serious addiction (like alcohol or drugs.) Perhaps there isn't such a verb "to be addicted" in Chinese.
