Yes, you’re a go-getter, self-starter, and outside-the-box thinker. But even you might need the occasional hand… especially at the office. So, not that you need it, but here’s a podcast with a Mandarin Chinese lesson on asking someone if they have time to give you a hand.

Change
I have a question. I know the word 空 "kong" is sometimes
pronunced as "kongr" by native speakers. Is that common
with Chinese people ? Does it depend on where you live ?

Thank you.

ChinesePod
Hi Change,

Good observation. Yes, some speakers of Chinese add the “儿化音” (ér huà yīn) (non-syllabic retroflex suffix), which sounds like "r", to the end of certain words, for example:

玩儿 wánr (play)
一会儿 yīhuìr (a while)
这儿 zhèr (here)

This pronunciation is most often heard in speakers of Chinese from Northern China.

Pam
Dont know if this is the place to address this--am fairly new to cpod--but how long are lessons "useable"? I mean I have tried past lessons and they just dont run--(continue to load for 15 min) and have tried on more than 1 occasion. Am particularly interested in the Elementary "haircuts" and "cooking" lessons. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
BTW love the site and promote it every chance I get!
