Re: Is a tomato a veggie or a fruit - I once heard that if it continues to ripen after you pick it, it's a fruit, if it doesn't it's a veggie. Guess that would put the tomato into the fruit category. cpod, looks like now you'll have to do an episode on fruit with a heated discussion of whether a tomato is a fruit or a veggie! But in Shanghai I think 蕃茄(fān qié) is more common.
