我真的喜欢北京烤鸭！

I also like the simplicity and directness of the conversation in this lesson. When I order Chinese food here in the San Francisco Bay Area, the conversation with a waiter pretty much resembles this lesson.

I found the same thing to be true in Paris where the waiters in Chinese restaurants prefer to speak Mandarin rather than French.

This was my favourite of the Hungry Traveller series so far.Just keeps getting better.Ken just can't help but be funny;"scientists would have to study this kind of individual"..lol.Fortunately I'm not up for scientific examination on this occasion. One of my most memorable meals ever was Peking Duck nearly 14 years ago.I still remember it like yesterday and it was in HK ,not even in Beijing.Delicious.The thought of Beijing kao3ya1 is enough to make me want to flap some Icarus type wings and head bei.

I loved all the background street noises. Also ,usually native speakers speak so fast that it's hard to catch it.So it was interesting to hear the drawn out chants of the street vendors.Great variety and reality that CPod brings to these lessons.Keep up the great work.Ganbei.

Anyway, I've been going to Beijing almost every weekend since the Olympics started (or more so since it ended, lot easier, and the bullet train less crowded). I had been to WangFuJing street (王府井) many times, as it was one of the first places I set foot in China in 2002, but when I went there in September with a Chinese friend, I never thought I would be eating larva, sea horses, scorpions, etc. Really never even noticed them in the food street next to the big screen TV across from McDonalds. Crazy, but I was willing to eat them, as long as my friend was willing to eat them, and she was.
