there you go xiao_liang..CPod to the rescue and at your service. Can't wait for that lesson and then to hear how you went after you put it into practice.
Woo hoo...a Shanghai Expo lesson.Bring it on !
about how many dialect episodes can we expect you guys to make for each of the 3 dialects you're doing? Do you plan on first doing a series on one dialect, and then moving on to the second and then the third? Or do you plan on switching back and forth between the 3 dialects? Can you tell us which is coming first?
The dialect lessons will be series that come one at a time. The first one is Shanghainese and there are about a dozen lessons planned. (1 a week) After that, we'll move on to a new series on a different dialect. (I'm not sure which one yet though!)
Smart move bringing out the Shanghainese lesson series first with the upcoming Expo...well timed.
Exactly! Also, some people think we're too Shanghai-based at Cpod, but I think it's a strength. Most Chinese learning materials are Beijing-centric. It's good to have another perspective.
I'd really like to see Cantonese next please!
Cantonese centralizes the southern people of China basically.
嘿嘿,唔知呢...
gong xi ni lily, Alain your student from Mauritius
xièxie nǐ,Alain :)
Also, loved Jenny forcing Sarah to practice Shanghai dialect in the podcast! Were you expecting that? Very funny, you sounded suddenly panicked :-)
Hello Lily and all other ChinesePod people! It was a pleasure to get some additional details about Lily in this podcast. Those 10 minute sessions go by so fast! Lily, thanks for your patience, energy and fun spirit! For me at 6:15 a.m., it's not that easy to speak Mandarin Chinese. Additionally, when my kids are singing and talking to me in the background, that does not help the situation either. When they are loud and trying to get my attention, you always laugh and say that they are so cute then get right back into the lesson... You are an amazing teacher and I appreciate your skill and focused- attention. That said, I look forward to our year of classes and life-long friendship! 明天见
Xie xie ni, Peter, your kids are really cute, thanks for your picture of your family, I love their voice and smile. 明天见 :-)
Tee hee Lily, most may be hard working. I have always been proud of not following the crowd!
Looking forward to the new series! Thanks all!
You said that the lesson will be newbie level - will I be able to subscribe to them separately for my feed as I just want the dialect lesson, without the newbie putonghua lessons.
look forward to them!
They'll probably be added as a new "series", and I think you can add them independently.
恭喜恭喜敬轩!
gōngxǐ gōngxǐ Lily!
Lily definitely balances compassion and a disciplined approach with keeping her students on track.
From my experience working parents with young children simply don't have the cycles that full time students often do (whether they realize it or not)...Lily keeps us moving forward!
谢谢你, George :)
Can't wait to learn a little bit of Shanghainese, Cantonese and Hokkien! Thanks Chinese Pod :-)
I am really looking forward to the Hokkien lessons. I have not been able to find good (online or off-line) resources on 闽南话, besides the occasional Taiwanese drama series with usually include some arguing in the local language.
