The upcoming UI lesson reminds me of a recent article in the newspaper here about life's big events being shared via text, which seems to verify the premise of the lesson.

"One in five people had accidentally sent a text meant for a lover to someone else and women are more likely to find out about a partner's affair by text"

..we're not sounding too bright or too honest if the article is to be believed.

I'm all in favor of serendipity. Sometimes, news and features has some information about coming changes to Cpod that has been useful for me to know, but I will listen to all the lessons, whether I know what they are in advance, or not.

Actually, I just listen to News and Features, because I am going through cpod withdrawl when Saturday evening rolls around.

Actually I could live without N&F every week. Maybe the time and energy could be better spent? I dont need to know what upcoming lessons will be about, but I would prefer the various levels to come out on the same day of the week each week. This would allow some planning and equal study time each week. Just my preference. Others may feel differently.

AMS- here's hoping it goes smoothly. Looking forward to the long promised upgrades.

RJ,

Some time ago, I did suggest that a lesson comes out same day each week so that we can plan our time, however Matt said poddies love surprises.

@John, note the Latest News in the Me page has been showing the starter kit promotion ends JULY 31st. Doesn't matter for me when the promotion ends, just want you to know the page says end of July.

I would prefer they surprise me with content, not timing. I find the fact that they vary the timing quite annoying actually. Having said that, they should go with whatever the majority wants. Im just not sure they know what that is.

I agree with those who want lessons at the same time each week, but unfortunately it often seems to come down to when Chinese holidays occur. Case in point was the very recent 端午节 (Duānwǔjié n. Dragon Boat Festival, 5th of the fifth lunar month). In China this is a big thing and just about everything shuts down. For poddies this apparently meant some lessons being recorded even more in advance than usual and seemingly appearing on a different day to usual, no doubt to accommodate the CPod office staff holiday schedule. 怎么办啊?

I think a lot of work is already involved in producing the five or more new lessons podcasts each week. So I wouldn't mind Cpod scrapping the News and Features so as to expend more productive work elsewhere. Announcing the upcoming lessons for the week has little value for me... whatever they are, I'll be visiting the lessons. Of course, when there are real new news or features or events, these can be announced in the occasional News and Features podcast. Other than that, the time and effort spent on a weekly N&F can be better used elsewhere. Just my opinion, of course.

Perhaps they tell us in advance so you can do some previewing. As in learn some terms and grammar on your own before the podcast. This would be useful for lessons above your own language level.

For example, a person could easily do a quick search for words related to "interviews" before the lesson comes out. Not to mention if you REALLY wanted something to be included in the podcast you might be able to put a suggestion out there and have it in by the release of the podcast. For example:

CPOD: Please try to included language related to talking about your achievements in the interview podcast.

Thanks alot, if the script is already set then perhaps some useful words in the supplementary vocab would do.
