能
Introduction
"Can" in the sense of "to be able to." The word 能 can refer not only to inherent ability, but also to the existence of the proper circumstances. For example, if you are asking someone if they "can come" to an event, you would use 能来, referring to circumstances (whether or not the person's schedule is free) rather than physical ability (transporting one's body to the appropriate location).
Note that 能 can be modified be adverbs of degree such as 很, 特别, 真 and 最, indicating an even higher level of ability.
