and I do! Whatever, special answer lay in that day is now lost to me since I saw your post after midnight and now it is 10/11. /hangs head in shame

Could it be that all this time...the universal answer of 42 was referring to some insightful gem of knowledge made available yesterday?

Did you get married ;-)?

I had two eggs for breakfast instead of one. scared smileys

tal, you missed your opportunity mate. It had to be 3 eggs and 3 strips of bacon to unlock the gem of knowledge

smiley emoticons I have a feeling that may be a reference to something. Gem of knowledge! Two eggs for breakfast beats that any old day of the week! Ha!

P.S. Cool to see you gesang, how's Hong Kong?

mate, come to Oz and we'll give you 3 eggs any way you want em and chuck in the bacon to boot. Howzat?

No, it's no reference. If only you were childish like me you'd understand immediately. You get a rasher of bacon vertically on your plate, lay an egg next to that, repeat this process twice ,and voila, you have 101010...[ binary for 42 and as you'll see in the discussion higher up the thread, on this special day you'll get that special gem of knowledge to understand everything in life and the universe]

I love it here! ...and even though it is Cantonese environment it motivates me to be more serious about my Chinese study again...(decided to continue with Mandarin instead of starting from zero with Cantonese..., most of the people do understand Mandarin too! ...but now I try to study traditional characters too)

... so I will be around here more often again ;-)!

I am sure Zaphod Beeblebrox would love the egg and bacon game ;-)!

It's good to see you around here again! I really dig HK too, but not the Cantonese or the traditional characters!

I do hope to get to Oz one day, I just hope I can get a tin man, a scarecrow and a lion to come too! Ha ha, lame. I must admit I do have the occasional hankering for a bacon sandwich, and that Aussie breakfast sounds good, how come bodawei left it out of the list? As for that bacon and egg binary, mate you're just too clever by half. ;)

hehe, I'll be sure to tell the next little kiddie that makes a picture of his plate of food just the same.

Hey tal, going off on a tangent here [ not that I'm prone to such a thing], and I'll be ultra impressed if you get this, when you do come to Oz with your mates, if the Scarecrow brings Miscanthus sinensis, the Lion brings something odd, the Tinman brings gold, and they put 'em all together, who else will have come?

Bacon in Oz is not gluten-free. I am restricted to gluten-free imaginings. Actually I eat Chinese bacon because I'm told they do not use wheat in the process - suppose I should make a more serious investigation than that.

把它们放在一起,突然你就有什么?

没人有意思? 好的, 答案是:

"芒奇金"

thanks gesa, and I must say it's great to see you back on the boards. Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures in China.

talking of binary, I've just been thinking how fangbian it is that Chinese counting is also in base 10...I guess humans all went with counting on their 10 fingers. Maybe chooks count their eggs in base 6 or base 8.

So centipede maths is going to really suck!

The counting in 10,000's thing is challenging at times though!
