Marking the lesson "studied"

Hi everyone, I'm brand new. Still trying to figure out how to navigate the discussion boards. Sorry if this has already been asked but how do you know when it's time to mark the lesson as studied?

Let's take my first lesson for instance, "The First Tone"

I know the key vocab and supplementary vocab very well, but when I look at the Expansion and Exercises tab, I feel lost. Should I memorize all of the expansion sentences too before I mark the lesson "studied?" Should I be able to ace the test before I mark it "studied?"

Right now I'm primarily focusing on vocabulary and reading the Expansion sentences to see the words I learned in a practical sense.

Thanks!

well.. it's a personal choice really.. but just because you mark it as studied doesn't mean it won't be accessible to you in future. I don't think I've ever marked something "as studied" in the last 2.5 years of being here.

I wouldn't get too hung up about it.. just leave it as it is and move on to another lesson. :)

I agree with light487 - don't get too hung up on when to mark something as "studied" - it's personal preference.  This only really impacts you in two ways (other than that great feeling you get when you cross something off your list): 1) how you manage your lessons (is the lesson in "active" or "studied") and 2) the number of lessons you've studied is used by the progress tracker to give you an idea on when to move up a level.  You can get by perfectly fine (like light487) without marking a single lesson as "studied".
