What do you think of a "blogging" strategy?

Hi all -

When I started with Chinese, I kept thinking about the old concept that the best way to learn is to teach someone else. This obviously doesn't usually work in real life, at least not in the beginning.

But I thought that light-weight "teaching" like writing blogs or sharing photos/videos/links could be a way to emulate the concept.

For example, I heard on Cpod about being a "Third Wheel" is 电灯泡 diàn dēng pào.  Then asked my teacher for more information and wrote this blog post.

What do you think about this type of learning?  Do you think it will help / be worth the time?

Thanks,

Brandon

just my opinion, so take it for what its worth...:-)

Anything that gets you focusing on Chinese is probably good.  I noticed on your blog you did a great job of explaining the meaning of the phrase, and some surrounding chinese, like gāngà, so that was good.

I was thinking that most of your post was in English, and it might be more effective for Chinese learning on your own behalf if you wrote everything in Chinese that you said in English.  But maybe the goal was trying to teach others, not learn on your own, and so maybe i missed the point.
