Preppies here are kids who go to Prep..the year before grade 1...about 4 or 5 years old. I'll leave Grade 2 standard [age 7] as a longer term goal, hehe.

the only time my writing looks descent is when I have those squares from keeping them from going everywhere, any other time they just are sized really inconsistently

So I take it you guys can't decipher it then? :(

yeah of course, it's clear as, much better than taking half an hour to figure out other people's handwriting...

Of course we can, every char is very clear and easy to read.

haha, thanks guys. Crude, blocky and young childlike, but all I'm after is communication. It's a start. Having played around with it a bit tonight, I can see that practice is definitely in order. I can see now how skritter teaches you the basic structure, but it always does these little adjustments. as it should. I can't see how it could be any better at what it does. So a great teaching tool, but I know what our mate bodawei was getting at in that other thread.

Baba the last thing I want is to seem patronizing. But I'm sure in handwriting it's so important especially at the start to write honest, wholesome characters, sincere and clear. I have a tendency to add volume and puff things up and in trying to compensate for strokes I find difficult, end up distorting my chars. I'm no sleuth but our writing really does reveal a lot about us.

If anyone were ever to remark that yours is a young childlike hand I would take that to mean I'm approaching this writing thing correctly. It's nice to look at is what I mean.

hey, I must say this is awesome fun reading your natural handwriting. I can see how you go from one stroke to the next [like the standing ren radical in ni...at the bottom of the first stroke you can see how you've headed up to start the second stroke, and it's interesting in 酷 in the you3 radical on the left how you go from the first stroke of the box down the bottom to do the second stroke which is the top and left side in one quick swoop...that's cool and I feel I'll understand handwriting better now that I've seen that] . I'm already onto it, hehe. I can see how natural and quick it would be.

Wanted to post this as a reply to zhenlijiang, but wasn't sure how to get the picture in there.

我们的“你”是不是写得有点像双胞胎一样?

p.s. good work there baba.

babyeggplant,

denada pengyou,

Here's the formula for inserting an image in a reply:

...and you can change those width and height figures around as long as width is never greater than 425.

...but here's a tip if you can't remember that formula. Just post the pic as you did above as the start of a new subthread using the pic icon. Immediately after successfully posting it hit the edit buttton. It should then have that whole img src code there. Copy and past that into a reply under the person you want to reply to, hit reply and voila !

The formula doesn't show up for me. Maybe you need to leave a bracket off or something? As for the second tip, I get what you're saying, but does that mean that I would need to post the picture twice? (or is it possible to delete the first picture posted after "editing"?)

Oh, sorry, I didn't notice that. That's right. Because I posted it "correctly" it would have tried to post a picture [but couldn't because where a url goes I had "paste the url here" ..or words to that effect. Yeah, I need to leave something off and then tell you what that was or something like that. I'll give that formula another shot in a sec.

Yes, post the picture twice, but of course once you've got the pic in the right spot in the subthread you'd go and delete the one that was out there lonesomely on it's own starting a new subthread.
