I see 星期 more often than 周 and 礼拜.

Is what is in the link below pretty much correct?

It basically says 星期 is the offically the most used way of saying day of week.

Yes in southern China, 礼拜 is preferred in spoken Chinese, but rarely, if ever, used in written Chinese.  A lot of times in written Chinese 周 will be used to save space, save time, and save ink.  You might hear it on TV and on the radio.  but all three are used, so you should know and recognize all of them.

Thanks. 周 looks like it's perfect for Twitter and 微博.

周is kinda more formal thant the other two forms as you can see from some official reports "公司本周收益"...and actually as a chinese I want to say that we use 星期a lot both in weibo and also daily lives:)

and I think you also see a lot 周used togher with 本 =本周 ...thats a set phrase bearing the meaning of this week

anyway, diff ppl might hold diff views towards these three words..hope it can help u aliitle in understanding it
