Hi, all!

I think the QǐngWèn on family members said āyí was a term of address for the (maternal) aunt, but some aunts might dislike that. My aunt (from Taiwan) is going to visit for the first time. How do you recommend me addressing her?

My aunt is the spouse of the cousin of my mother. But I'm asking less because I want to be 100% correct, than because I want to use a form of address which is not unwellcome :-)

In Greece, where I come from (and China, I assume) such relatives are still considered close relatives. In Germany, where I live now, many people don't know their second cousin.

My guess is that āyí is correct.

Thanks! If I find out more about how different terms are perceived, I shall post it here.
