Kuaidi Express Delivery Missed - Where is my stuff?

I live in Shanghai in a residential compound. I ordered a few things via Taobao which arrived yesterday while I wasn't at home. I couldn't take the delivery man's call, so I sent him an SMS in pinyin ("Will be back in 2 hours") as my phone doesn't support characters. I haven't heard back from him and no second delivery attempt has been made so far today. Where did my stuff end up? What's your experience?
