I saw this on a chinese tv show and I looked it up in the dictionary and couldn't really find a decent translation (it says something like "emotionally hurt"). I don't know if anyone could explain better what that word meant? thanks!

My dictionary says "to be wronged," and while this feels a little awkward in English, it's accurate.

Is nomally an adjective 委屈 referring to the feeling of being wronged.  "我觉得很委屈" is a common usage of it (and hard to translate!).  受委屈 just turns it into a verb phrase.

Ah ok, well the context was a mother who had just gotten divorced was talking to her child and trying to reassure her child to not feel upset about that divorce (so I guess "feel wronged" or maybe like we would say "don't take it personally" or "don't think it's because of you" would be good translations).

My Chinese girlfriend couldn't give me a good translation of it either!

Thanks!
