Hey Poddies! So we've been diligently working to improve the newest version of our site. We feel that most if not all of the main bugs have been resolved, and we would like to thank you all for pointing out the issues you came across.

This post is of a different nature, however, as we are looking for suggestions to improve your learning experience. We would like people to respond to this post with constructive examples of what additional features they would like to see on the site. Please try to keep the comments respectful and organized so that we can track them and pass them along to our web developers. As always, thank you for helping us to improve the ChinesePod experience.

Best,

Hi Alexander,

Any specific update on the bringing back the "lists" and "percentage complete"? This is probably the biggest issue for us long term CP users.

Can you confirm this will happen and when it will be fixed? My Premium two year subscription expires very soon, so I want to know this issue will be resolved before I renew again.

Thanks

Ray

Dear rayally,

We currently have the lists feature here at chinesepod.com/library/list.

As for "percentage complete" can you clarify? If you are talking about Progress, you can find it at http://chinesepod.com/dashboard/progress.

Please clarify and we will do our best to provide the features you are talking about, if they do not already exist.

Best,

Hi CP team,

I found the list feature, but it's missing the most important detail - the lesson level and number!

The problem is I have thousands of downloaded podcast so it's impossible to search or cross reference by name. So I categorise by your lesson numbers; for example C2446. ("C" for intermediate level and then the lesson number).

As you already use these numbers (for podcasts and lesson PDF's) it should be easy to add a column to accommodate this information on the list page.

Hope this can be done, as I am sure other users need this info too?

Best regards

Ray

I have long wanted an index of which grammar points are covered in which lessons. Something similar to your glossary page, but for constructions instead of words or phrases. Do you have such a thing? I have looked but never found one. I think this would be by far the most useful thing you could add to your site.

On the glossary page, it would be helpful to be able to see the name of the lesson associated with each sentence by hovering over the "go to lesson" button.

There should be a way to point out errors on the glossary page directly without having to copy-paste and send an email. The glossary is full of errors (unless you've gone through and edited them all in the formatting update).

It would be nice (though less necessary than the above suggestions) to be able to hover over the vocabulary list in the transcript of a lesson and see a time stamp of when the hosts start explaining each term.

Thanks.

I really like the idea of a glossary for grammar and language structure. That would be so helpful!

One already exists. You guys should work something out with with AllSet because their site rocks: http://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/grammar/.

Heck, they already have a bunch of grammar breakdowns for the Qing Wen podcasts: http://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/grammar/Qing_Wen

I think it's John Pasdens company and he still works for you guys, right?

rufustank,

That's not what I meant. I meant an index similar to the current glossary.

An index of lessons in which certain grammar points are explained --within the context of a lesson.

how about

1) Stop collecting user feedback in the Discussion section of the website and get a proper bug tracking / feedback collecting section of the website, with votes for good suggestions and things.

2) Please make sure that website actually works in China. I just spend 20 minutes wating for this page to load, refreshed at least a dozen times, and no result. Had to turn on VPN to get here. With all due respect, this is unacceptable and a sign of total incompetence of the web team.

I have a ton of suggestions of how to provide features that would help the learning experience, but, again, with all due respect, I feel like posting them here in this thread would be a total waste of my time, sorry to say. This is my 5th year as a paid subscriber, and I am actively looking for replacement materials and tools, everything that I hoped for did not materialize here, this site is clearly going downhill. Again, with all due respect.
