Exploding car traffic sign?

Anybody knows the meaning of the Chinese traffic sign that depics an inflaming or exploding car, clearly stating that this an prohibited action?

The cab driver said she asked herself that question over and over. She did not know.

So does it mean

"car-bombing is not allowed at this traffic spot"?

[sorry, no, I did not have my camera with me and I am leaving Beijing today so there is no opportunity to gather further evidence. But it seams to be used frequently.]

can't seem to find any corresponding traffic sign 道路交通标志 (dàolù jiāotōng biāozhì) among the 'prohibited' signs 禁令标志 (jìnlìng biāozhì)

you're right to highlight the Beijing Travel Management Bureau website, some more links on that page to cool albeit unrealisticflash animations (lesson ideas?) and games

Surely that means no camp fires on your car roof? ;) I was always confused by this British sign when I was a kid. Thought it meant watch out for motorbikes jumping over cars. hehe

/Users/gesa/Desktop/schild3.gif i think "horn prohibited" is the funniest sign you can see in China.. who cares? absolute waste of money to put them anywhere...nobody cares! i think a car without a horn is impossible to sell in China! :-)

I guess that's what you meant : Explanation: 禁止运输危险物品车辆驶入标志 表示禁止运输危险物品车辆驶入。设在禁止运输危险物品车辆驶入路段的入口处。 source

Awesome catch Henning. Goulniky's explanation aside, I'd favour "when things blow up, no fleeing in vehicles allowed."

Bazza, that is good stuff! Can't stop laughing. Gesang, here is an old thread with some tips on including HTML into your posts. Scroll down about half-way...

gesang, you can't add pictures from your desktop through html tags though, only pictures on a website somewhere for which you can find the full link, something like http://www.bjjtgl.gov.cn/bzbx/bx05.files/j32.gif
