Changye, Do chinese people really cheer up small children with the National Anthem ? I also wonder if the Swahili "Hakuna Matata" (see The Lion Kind) would work in china ?

@kimiik It is not unheard of. (I wouldn't rule out that it could be a very cleverly disguised opinion of dear changye as well.)

@changye I do not know whether a japanese cartoon would have much appeal for Chinese kids.

My former roommate always got very elated upon hearing the 国歌. She was applying for a party post back then, during her student days (not so long ago) which involves a lot of work, so she used to be very stressed out. I must admit that I have met few people who are as deeply patriotic, though.

The song of the Two (somewhat decapacitated) Tigers works well to cheer kids up, at least my 小太阳 usually breaks out in giggles.

By the way, changye, which is the Japanese anthem such a sad (albeit soothing) one?

Hi zhanglihua,

Here are the links to Japanese national anthem “君が代”. I don’t think it is exhilarating, but I’m proud that our national anthem is musically artistic. I’m willing to admit that the music is suitable for a funeral service!

Hi changye! What does "Kimigayo" mean in English?

Is it anything close to "lord's generation"?

Hi hitokiri,

君が代 (kimigayo) = The reign of the lord.
