Mac Safari issues

Hey guys, I'm having chinese character display issues. I think it is the new site, because it was working when using the old site. Basically, I can see chinese characters if it is normal text e.g. lesson titles not within the fancy "loading lessons/conversations" bit that is new, but cannot read any chinese characters within this new flashy business.

Also, my community search isn't working, so if anyone has posted this problem before, I'm sorry, I can't find the conversation.

I'm using Safari 3.0.4 for Mac. Maybe I'll see if there is an upgrade!

Hi sebire,

I'm using Safari 3.1.2, but I think it should work fine with your older version.

If upgrading doesn't fix it, see if this does:

1.  Go to Safari...Preferences
2.  Click on the Appearance tab
3.  Click on the Default Encoding pull-down menu and select Unicode UTF-8.
4.  Close Preferences.
5.  Quit Safari and reopen.

Hopefully that works.  If not, you may need to trash your preferences (I can tell you how if the above doesn't work).

Good luck.

I also use Safari 3.1.2 without problems and have the default encoding set to Unicode UTF-8 as calkins mentioned.

I might need to change the encoding for some other Chinese sites, but this works for Chinesepod.

Looks like upgrading did the trick. It definitely doesn't work with the old browser. Hope Cpod doesn't get too technical in the future, my computer is getting old.

Cheers guys!
