Some gestures are interpreted differently in different cultures Shrugging is pretty harmless in Europe - as fas as I know at least. In China this seems to be quite offensive.

Is there something like a high five gesture in China?

Thumbs up and the V-sign are obviously quite common. Do their Chinese names suggest their ubiquitous usage?
