Hi, Keigo

sorry for a bit late start for our conversation...

so many essays are killing me even during holidays..:(

anyways, let's start our bit...I think it's useful to revise some key points from the dialogues in last sem..cause the dialogues we have now are the second part of the whole story...continue from the last sem..

Here is the summary of relationship between people in the story...(extracted from my discussion in last sem) hope it helps.

there are six people in the story. Zhang Liang and Lily are the lovers, Liu Xiang, the 30 years old millionaire, is Lily's ex-boyfriend. And Chen Li is a colleague of Zhang Liang in the company. Also Chen Jing and Zhen Hua are the friends of Lily and Zhang Liang respectively.

I will post my own summary of the first dialogue "the other woman" asap.

c u~

Ok, let's start with the first one, "the other woman". This dialogue explicitly shows the growing tension between Lili and Zhang Liang.

In the dialogue, Lili makes a call to Zhang Liang's cell phone, but the recording(语音) says that his cell phone is turned off (关机). Therefore she dials to his office and a woman answers the phone (probably Chen Li, co-worker of Zhang Liang). Zhang Liang gets the phone very soon but Lily already feels upset and asks ironically that whether she disturbed (打扰) him a private time (私人时间) with his female co-worker or not. He makes an excuse that there was no battery (没电) for his cell phone and also there was a lot of overtime work (加班), but Lili hangs up her phone and turns it off.

This is my summary for this dialogue…the story is becoming more interested, isn’t it? haha If you find anything wrong with my work, plz let me know by your reply…the next dialogue is “Confiding in a conniving friend”…I think it’s better to us to take turns for summarizing the dialogues and giving some feedbacks to each other…how do you think? I will wait your reply! :)

Yeah I think so too.

and I'm lost in defining ZL's character... His feeling is kind of changing aroud...

He looked mature enough to deal with things unexpectedly happened at the bar, and also at the cafe or wherever where they had moca and chat together.  He acted like an understanding person, but now he became sissy again...

Anyway, I also think that we got the main idea about this story so that we can now focus on our part eh?

Thanks a lot.

C u soon!! bye

As you also can feel from the title, the third one, ‘Break up’ is the highlight of this story I think.

Zhang Liang and Lili finally met on the phone just after ZL tried to make so many calls and send hips of message. Maybe Lili ignored them all.

Anyway, he complains to Lili about her ignorance towards him and she says ironically that ZL should be busy to be with a new girlfriend instead of her. ZL tries to explain his situation at that time again, but Lili totally doesn’t believe him.

Finally, ZL becomes to feel angry about her over-suspicious (what he thinks) and says his uncomfortable feeling about the relationship between Lili and her millionaire ex-boyfriend, Liu Xiang…he is what a loser I think…he even compares himself with Liu Xiang…you know money rules everything haha

So, this dialogue ends up by breaking up with blaming each other. No good…

The next one is the dialogue of ours haha feel excited?

The fourth one, ‘A dad gives advice to a broken-hearted son’ is a dialogue between ZL and his dad.

ZL’s dad tries to cheer up his son who is suffering after breaking up with Lili but ZL seems he cannot overcome it at the moment. So dad tells his love story with a campus beauty (校花) before his marriage with ZL’s mum, and tries to persuade him that there is no need to suffer because there are so many women in the world and one of them should suit him… WOW ZL’s dad is just so kind…he is what a ‘模范父亲’!! Isn’t he? Maybe I have to show this dialogue to my dad haha

However, ZL seems still sad and he says dad’s generation just can’t understand his feeling. How sad…

Our part seems really good for us to present…If you want to make any change or add something more, just let me know. I’m also thinking about that at the moment…

The fifth dialogue, ‘Seeking Comfort’ is about Lili’s reconciling with his ex-boyfriend, Liu Xiang. Poor Zhang Liang :(

Firstly, their meeting was so difficult because Liu Xiang is one of the busiest people who on TV or newspaper everyday. It seems like he is even much busier than ZL. Liu Xiang says he is always willing to squeeze his time to meet Lili…oh my god, you know, this is just what Lili exactly wants from the man! Game is over…haha

Lili tells Liu Xiang about her breaking up with ZL and she says she can’t even make a smile (怎么也笑不出来). Liu Xiang tries to cheer her up and says Lili is really a good person and the man who can be with her is definitely the luckiest man in the world (能照顾你的男人肯定是这世界上最幸福的男人). How come he talks so oily?...Jesus…I can’t say like this…how about you Keigo? haha

Just after that, Liu Xiang says he really wants to take another chance to take care of her…yeh…I knew it. What a really good timing to say his feeling I think. You know, just after breaking up with boyfriend, it is the weakest moment of all girls…Liu Xiang knows very well!! I think I’m so in this story hahaha

Alright…we have just 3 more to go!

I'm so glad to see your post!!! I've tried to call you several times but your phone was unavailable...don't know why but don't worry about me and try to put your stuff as fast as you can! It's due on 5 pm today! Here is my one for the sixth dialogue...

The dialogue ‘Uncomfortable encounter in a bar’ is just about what the title says. It’s about a coincident encounter between ZL and Lili at a bar.

At the first scene, Zhenhua treats ZL drinks at a new bar. ZL seems alright until they get to that bar. However, Zhenhua finds Lili who is with Liu Xiang in there. ZL says it’s just his bad luck (倒霉). After that, unexpectedly, Lili says hello first to ZL! I hate this kind of girl…she reconciled with ex-boyfriend just after break up with ZL and it’s exactly not a manner to ZL! However, ZL’s attitude is totally different from what I expected. He calmly says hello to Lili and even talks with Liu Xiang about the achievement made by Liu Xiang’s company! He is such a real guy I’ve ever seen…

But you know, Zhenhua has a bad image about Liu Xiang, because, if you remember, in the dialogue we’ve done last semester, he was a friend who warned ZL about Liu Xiang and his relationship with Lili. Zhenhua aggressively express his feeling upon Liu Xiang and tries to take ZL with him. He says he doesn’t like such a petty guy like Liu Xiang (不想认识你这种小人)! What a nice shot made by Zhenhua! This is a real friendship! I really like him haha

Anyway, then ZL tries to separate him from Liu Xiang and Lili and Zhenhua reminds ZL that Liu Xiang is the guy who stole his girlfriend. He also says it’s also good for ZL, because ZL can give up on her more easily (可以早点死心).

I also agree with Zhenhua that it’s better for ZL to meet Lili coincidently when she was with Liu Xiang. How do you think Keigo? The ending of whole story is not far away!

Hmm...something happened to you? I couldn't see you at uni for whole week even we are in the same tut group...anywayz, then I will put up all my stuff first...hope it helps...

The second one, ‘Confiding in a Conniving Friend’ is the dialogue of Lili and Chen Jing about the quarrel between Lili and Zhang Liang.

Lili says that she feel she has misjudged () Zhang Liang and Chen Jing replies with surprise that Zhang Liang is such a trustful () person, so she says Lili is just thinking too much and Zhang Liang should have no time because he works busy. It seems Chen Jing tries to understand the situation of Zhang Liang. I like this kind of girl…hahaha anyways, Lili says her feeling can’t be wrong (会错的) and also says Zhang Liang had to spend sometime even if he is busy.

After this, Cheng Jing understands Lili’s feeling and says all men always just think about their own careers and affairs (自己的事业和心情). With agreeing that comment, Lili says she needs a person who can love her with all his heart and soul (全心全意爱她的人) Finally Chen Jing says Zhang Liang is not bad but he’s not the most suitable person to Lili (他不是最适合她的人).

I will be back with the third one shortly…

For the dialogue of ours, the 4th one,

I dont think his dad and also ZL himself are smart and understanding Lily's feeling... They are just justifying themselves.  It's still OK for dad coz he doesnt know much about the situation but I think it was indeed ZL's fault, wasnt it??  He should more care about Lily if he really loved her.  Besides, ZL mentions about how much he paid for her.  It was the worst thing...haha.

Anyway, have you come up with any good ideas to add to the dialogue as you mentioned?

By the way, I didnt really understand some expressions such as 爱得死去活来 and 别老钻牛角尖. Did you figure them out?

You are funny!

I now love rading your comments seriously!  Yeh I wont be able to say things like what XL said either... Those words are too much and too direct in our culture arent they??  It is so in Japan... I would think like 'Is this guy seriously saying these?'.

but as you say, Lili just broke up he might look and sound a perfect man she imagines of!

Be carefull Lili !!!!

What a story we have here in dialogue 7 'It's Over'.

The relationship between ZL and Lili seems to have become steady as friendsd by now as they are drinking moca and chatting.  They are recalling things happened at the bar.  Lili says that she never thought she would experience that kind of novelistic occasion would occur in her life.

But what a surprise! She's going abroad (Australia. haha) with LX since they are engaged!  Altough ZL congratulates her but what a poor guy....

I'm kinda changing my stance towads ZL now.  He isnt truly happy about the news is he?

 One to go!

Hey- keigo I'm back!

Let me answer your question then...I'm not exactly sure but...

in the expression 爱得死去活来, the word 死去活来, as you can have a look at the vocab list, it means "hover between life and death"...So I think ZL's dad also have such an experience of serious suffering because of love.

the second one, 别老钻牛角尖, since our vocab list says that 钻牛角尖 means "to obsess over a small thing", so I think 别老钻牛角尖 means something like "don't be so serious or suffered about such a small thing". In here, "the small thing" should mean ZL's break up with Lili.

Hope it helps! I'll be back with the last two dialogues, "It's over" Part 1 and 2...

Oh! good to see your summary for the dialogue!

Yeh-I definately agree with you about the main idea in that dialogue. It seems such a plausible story in Korea as well. As you said, China, Korea and Japan has some common things in terms of culture...haha

Until that dialogue, "It's over" part 1, it seems like the story ends up with happy ending...but as you can see in our last dialogue, "It's over Part 2", ZL says to Lili that he wants to get with her again but she refuses it. From then, they start to quarrel with bringing the past back. Then finally Lili says to ZL that "please" don't contact her anymore.

I totally felt bewildered about the last dialogue...hahaha

Anywayz, this is pretty much of it I think. Since we still have 2 more weeks to talk about modifying our dialogue there's enough time...don't worry so much about that. When I get some ideas, I'll let you know...

Have a nice weekends!!!! c ya~
