October 13, 2008, 12:13 PMI agree :) I saw this photo though, and was blown away. I'm sure working in a paddy field is hard hard work, but how about that view everyday!

Of course, if you work in a paddy field you won't have this view everyday (rice is a cultivated cereal). ;o)
But If you work in a tea plantation (茶园) it will be green most of the year.

After researching the components of 稻 dào [rice; paddy], I found its component characters interesting:
禾 hé : noun - standing grain
舀 yǎo : verb - ladle out; spoon up (or out); scoop up
One other intersting thing about 稻田 dàotián is that Pera-kun translates it as "cornfield". Hmmmmm.

Nice picture,but I must admit that when I think of rice paddies I tend to think more of rice paddy fields than the rice paddy terraces pictured and I tend to think of the water being more visible.Perhaps I have finally found something that we're not precisely on the same wavelength.But once again nice job all the same,so thanks.
