no idea if it's feasible, but i wonder whether users who comment on specific lessons can receive a notification when sb makes a subsequent comment to that lesson. otherwise, if one asks a question, s/he must be constantly checking back to see if sb has responded..

so a version of what i have in mind already exists -- 'community' link and then selecting 'my conversations' -- except for one can't tell whether sb has replied to the comment or not. so perhaps you could just change the small-print line beneath the particular comment link to reflect the identity of the *latest* post. it's a small change, but the usefulness will increase greatly...

Stanimal,

I wholeheartedly agree.  Actually I wish the comments were set up more like Youtube, where you can post a reply to a specific comment, which then are linked together, or just leave a general comment which is posted at the top as "latest comments".  Also if an e-mail came back when someone responds directly, that would be great.  Besides that, we could select in our user profile if we want ALL responses to be e-mailed back or just specific responses to our posts, right now the format is such a free for all I find forums with responses to my own posts weeks or months later that I never came back on and posted a reply to just getting lost in the shuffle.

Hi stanimal, xiaohu

What you're talking about is threaded commenting. We are pushing hard to implement this soon. I agree that it will not only make discussions "flow" better, but also will make it easier for moderators like me (and active posters like you) to find relevant posts, answer questions, etc.

So while no one likes to be told "hang in there, it will get better," I assure you that we are working on this vital feature.

I was just thinking that would be nice...

here's another idea that might make threaded commenting more palatable to praxis language:

rather than allowing users to start any number of threads, have 3 pre-set threads: "grammar", "vocab", and "topic" -- that way the user can quickly select the tab/thread that will cover his concerns...

Hi stanimal

Thanks for another excellent idea. I will make sure it reaches the ears of the people who can act on it.
