I have been trying to reply to messages sent to me via CPod messaging, but apparently without success (Firefox, Chrome and IE alikke). When I press [send message] it seems to hang forever.  It must work for some people since I am receiving messages myself ?!

Did you receive a message I sent you today? I have the same problem.

Brent - this used to work before the iceberg hit. I was told when it stopped working that it would be temporary. Still waiting. it was a nice feature. Very nice. And it did work at one time.

yo cpod! whats the deal with the PM feature and why isnt it working properly?

Anybody working on this yet??

its been a few days and we are all experiencing difficulty here...I've sent 2 messages today and both times the site locks up and turns grey. Also, the usual green confirmation tag does not pop up.

apparently, the messages are still going though but this is really strange

I'm seeing the same problem. My messages tend to get through even though it looks as if they are not. I'm afraid the team is on holiday for a couple of days, but I've told them. Let's hope they can do something about it.

Ken,

great. I have started the clock. Good experiment. This is a good chance for them to prove what they are made of. Or, well disprove the common belief so far. While they are at it, they can get rid of all those extra command characters that show up on bulletin board titles. I would also think that an outfit of any consequence would be covered IT wise 24/7. My apologies if Im wrong, but if cpod is weak anywhere, its IT. Or maybe you dont give IT the support or oversight that it needs? I know this time its a small thing but they have dropped bigger balls than this. God I hated to say that, but it needed to be said. Prove me wrong.

Oh yea - Happy New Year!

annoying as such glitches might be, there are work arounds, and it's still comforting to hear the team is enjoying a well-earned (Western) new year break, just like the rest of us. I mean it.

Yves,

I dont disagree. Its the bigger over all picture that I had in mind actually. I seem to remember you too being frustrated by many IT issues.

me, frustrated by IT issues, 嗯 impossible 哈哈

come to think of it, there is still this lingering  problem with rankings unable to handle original posts, only counting replies which would probably take me half an hour to fix...

I wouldn't necessarily blame the tech team though, the management is setting priorities for them, Ken among them even though he's the outspoken visionary playing good guy ;-)

while they're about it, they may want to FIX THE RANKING ALGORITHM - for one thing, we're now in 2009 so the tab label should reflect this simple fact. ALSO CONSIDER PROPERLY SORTING THE RANKINGS. In my books,  5 < 15 < 6 is based on rather random logic...

goulniky,

The messaging system now properly displays a "success" message as a first correction, but it doesn't redirect to anywhere yet.  I'm planning to make it redirect to the page of origin (either a user profile page, or a user's PM inbox).

Thr 2008/2009 lable issue is a rather embarrassing oversight; we will get it fixed immediately.

The reason it's taking so long to fix the ranking algorithm is that messages posted to groups are not properly calculated, but there are actually quite a few issues with Groups that we're going to fix together. I'm sorry that you're so affected by this calculation error, but we will get to it. It's on a long list of fixes, and we're taking care of them one by one.

It looks like the message page is freezing again after pressing the "send" button.  It was recently fixed and redirecting to the message receiver's profile page, but now it's not doing anything again.

Does anyone else think it's weird to be redirected to the receiver's profile page?  Seems like it'd make more sense to go back to your own inbox, or back to the message that the sender is replying to.

I guess Chinesepod goes by the lunar year given the pace, I would think the level of embarassement is higher than the cost/complexity of that fix.

One other thing about messaging...

I just noticed on the user profile page, under "Privacy Settings," you have the option to select "Forword Incoming Messages to Email."

Mine has always been set to "Yes," but I've never received a forwarded message.  Not a huge deal, but if the functionality is there it'd be a nice little feature.

P.S.  Notice the misspelling of "Forword" ;-)

Not only does the "send" button not work, but I've noticed that partial replies are being cut off (i.e. half of the message will be sent, the other half won't).

I've also noticed that the messaging "feature" has a spell checker.  It would be awesome if there was a spell checker in the Conversation comments.

These should all be pretty quick fixes I would think.
