I'm hoping that some other people will post to this group or ask questions.  Lately, I have also been ill and I can't get warm because there is no central heating in the building I'm staying at.  I'm now in Chengdu and learning how to dress like the locals.  Thankfully, the kind people I'm staying with gave me an electric heater to use.

I'm now starting to understand why Yang is very much emphasized by one of my teachers and why the south is so important in Chinese medicine.

When I was in Beijing overlooking Tian An Men square, I could see exactly how Yang and Yin could be measured and calculated according to the seasons and variations in the day. and why the earth is square and heaven is spherical.

It also makes me wonder where the Yellow Emperor lived.

Hey kelinsheng,

Well, I just joined the group so hopefully I can contribute a bit. How is Chengdu treating you?  Are you studying at the university there?

What do you think of Chengdu compared to Beijing?

Whew.  I am now back in Canada after an intense internship at the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine hosptial and had little access to the internet.  The hospital I was at saw 4,000 out patients per day.

Chengdu is really nice.  I can't compare it much to Beijing because I was only in Beijing for three days.  I did get the impression that Sichuan is like the Texas of China.  The Sichuan dialect is a southern drawl and it can be hard to distinguish the difference between 4 and 14.

If you are around Chinese speakers enough, you can learn to distinguish it.  I visited Chengdu a few weeks ago and ran into a Taoist Doctor there at the large Taoist Temple (forgot the name of it).

Nice place and I'm sure you learned a lot from interning at the university there.

If I had remained on the mainland, I probably would have moved over there.  I liked it better than Beijing.
