Playing a game of xianqi

So it looks like we've got a few people in the group now so I guess we can figure out how to go about playing a game?

You could either use a physical board or a computer program.  I just downloaded a program from http://www.jcraner.com/qianhong/ that seems to do the trick.  You can save and load games and it shows you the notation of your move so you can make sure you match what your opponent says.

I read over the Wikipedia article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiangqi and it looks like most computer programs use notation 2 (also used by the computer program).  I guess I'd suggest we use that notation for stating moves?

I also would suggest that we start a post for each game and then use the comments section to state a move.

And I think I will try and post an image of the board after each series of moves (both opponents have gone).  This way, other people could look at the board and see how the game is going.

So how about it?  I am no good (so don't be too scared!), would anyone like to play me?

Sounds like its going to be a really slow game, but could be fun.  Multiple people can come in at any time and make a move on the game.  It would be a bit hilarious and infuriating :).

I'll make the first move.
