CPod lesson dialogue Quotes

It's funny how some lines from the CPod dialogues just stick in your mind.I'm not talking about the lexical chunks that we can recall when we either need to or try to call them to mind for one reason or another. It's more like a line from a really catchy tune that just sticks and keeps replaying;like a line from a favourite song.I thought I'd post a small list of some that ,for one reason or another,I can't forget.Feel free to add your own favourite or most memorable quotes,or even do a "what lesson was this one from?".Here's a few of them in no particular order.

No one else has any favourite quotes or phrases stuck in their heads from time to time[I mean this in a good way]? I don't believe it;it must be something else that means it's not worth posting.I would have loved to have heard others.

This reminds me of when we were in Beijing getting a number to see the dentist at the hospital. We were one of the first people in line but when the lady behind the glass came and opened the window to give out numbers everyone pushed and shoved. Specially this one guy. I turned around and said 排队!!! The guy looked at me like he saw a ghost and quickly went back to his spot where he was originally.

I was so proud of myself :)

good topic mate!

I've definitely got a few of these...I usually have a "favorite" line out of each dialogue and it will really stick in my head...I will just be going along with my daily routines and suddenly find myself saying these or thinking about them! even tempted to use them as replies to my fellow english speaker! maybe because i like the way they sound or because they simply made me laugh! Heres a few copied directly from the transcripts (so theres no mistakes) with lessons referenced:

(Travel Itinerary)

然后就回来啦。

 ránhòu jiù huílai la.

 Then I'll just come back.

(Traveling around China)

真羡慕你。有机会我也要去玩玩。

zhēn xiànmù nǐ. yǒu jīhuì wǒ yě yào qù wánwan.

I really envy you. If I have the opportunity I also want to go.

(Bank hours)

啊?我九点到六点都在上班,真不方便。

ǎ? wǒ jiǔ diǎn dào liù diǎn dōu zài shàngbān, zhēn bù fāngbiàn.

Oh? I work from 9 to 6. It's really inconvenient.

(whatever)

你到底想干什么?

 nǐ dàodǐ xiǎng gàn shénme?

What is it that you want to do?

I just began but this looks like fun.  I'm not sure if the newbie lessons have any catchy lines but I'll keep my eye out and come back to this post.

Right now the only thing that sticks in my head is 你好吗? lol! Well, got to start somewhere I guess.

I think some 请问 had really memorable lines, specifically 在香这里小便又慢又不方便!Good times...

Also the lesson with about phone/purse/keys, and the guy going 钥匙。。。钥匙! It sounded funny.

Oh, and the DVD ploy lesson when the guy is going "feel my chest" - 你摸摸看, which for some reason sticks in my head. Probably because the situation was crazily absurd!

urbandweller,

"even tempted to use them as replies to my fellow english speaker!"

哈哈;就是。我知道了应该是别人是志同道合。

miami_meiguoren,

hehe, yeah.I didn't personally include any of the frequent lines [in this case Ken's well,well,well...yeah I love that too...makes one feel like we're all getting somewhere together] or classic lines of Ken or Jenny et al,but was just focussing on the lesson dialogues. The quotes would be innumerable there too ,but the first that springs to mind is Ken saying in the diary series..."a group of grazing dorks"...like it was from a nature documentary;very funny.

honker,

Welcome mate.I haven't come across a single lesson that urbandweller has just quoted from so I too will definitely be coming back to this post at some point in the future too.In fact I think that the quotes serve for me as good recommendations for lessons to check out,if I find the time to go beyond the daily releases. There was a great post a few months ago about favourite lessons also.I'll have to try and dig that out when I get the chance unless anyone else knows where it got to.

Sebire,

hehe.Great quotes.I'll have to check out the DVD ploy lesson.Sounds really funny.

Tvan,

lol.Impressed with your patience at writing my user name and generously expanding it.Maybe it would have been easier to write 8^6rdwan.Don't mind what you call me.In fact in light of my occasional tweeting,"man" is very reassuring.Hope you don't mind if I call you mate though.Hehe;hadn't come across that one but I see what you mean.Yeah,Connie inspiring us to be better hubbies by giving us good examples.Yeah,I have had a good chuckle myself at many of the expansion sentences, but somehow they don't seem to get stuck in my head like the ones from the lesson dialogues do which is a shame because as you rightly say there are excellent examples there and funny ones to boot.

Thanks everyone for your posts.Keep 'em coming any time you have one.I really enjoy some of these classic lines.I completely agree with urbandweller about the temptation to offload these lines on others [especially when it would be apt and you have a great chinese line for the situation ] and as very few people speak Chinese where I am it usually means it would be to someone who wouldn't know what I was talking about.

一步一步来吧 echoes around my head, just like at the end of the ellie lesson on Hiking.

I did say it to a women with really big high heels on... it didn't go down well.

"老公收拾服服帖帖的/She's got her husband perfectly obedient.  Appropriately enough in the zombie expansion.

So i had to go to the bank at noon today and apparently eveyone else in San Diego did too! After standing there for 15 minutes i started to fidget and get impatient...then all of sudden this great lexical chunk of chinese came to mind and i desperatly wanted to scream it out!

快点!后面还有很多人排队呢! 下一个!

(taken from "Train to Beijing" lesson)

I didnt...BUT i did say "那算了!“ out loud and walked out of the line!!

ha ha!

babababababardwan, best dialogue quotes?  You need to do your homework man!  (Sorry, just can't call a guy, "mate.")  The best lines are in the expansion sentences.  As a married man I got a hoot out of this one from, "Opening a Factory."

老婆大人甚麼吩咐。(Tell me what you want me to do, beloved wife.)

That had to come from Connie!!!
