Hi All,

My name is Walt Goodridge. The cool people at Chinesepod have suggested I write a post to announce the book, Chicken Feathers and Garlic Skin: Diary of a Chinese Garment Factory Girl on Saipan--more specifically, a free audio download featuring an interview with Chun Yu Wang, the author whose story (as told to me) I edited and published, speaking on her life as a garment factory worker.

Chun experienced, (and aced) her first-ever radio interview with morning talk show host Harry Blalock on Saipan's KZMI-FM radio station.

As someone who learned about Chinesepod and used it to enhance my own understanding of the Chinese language(s) as well as culture, I thought it might prove interesting listening to other members. (It's still a bit advanced for me), so I'd love to know how the Mandarin that Chun (who is from Wu Xi) and the translator are using differs from what is taught on Chinesepod.

You can check out part 1 (20 minutes) of the interview at www.saipanfactorygirl.com. (see sidebar)

Walt

p.s. Chun and I are actually now in Suzhou for a few days and plan to move around a bit, with plans to be back in Shanghai in a few days to visit the Praxis/Chinesepod offices! This is my own first trip to China. Been here 1 day and loving it!

Here's a link to the interview.

I listened yesterday, and it's a great intro to a very good book.

Walt - We'll be in touch about your visit!
